Shhh. I am the Presidentess of a secret island nation. My country is so advanced, we have long rid ourselves of health issues, power struggles, arms races ('cause arms don't race that fast), animal abuse, and, of course, bacon. Now is not the time to withhold all that I know, and so I blog.

Destroying Beauty - one bad decision at a time

Have you ever met someone who is just simply gorgeous? Not in the physical sense necessarily. More, they are every synonym of beautiful: serene, balanced. They hold life’s dramas at arms length. Under duress from event or emotion they seem extremely okay, gliding along life's undulating terrain friction-free.

Some people’s lives, in comparison, might better befit a country fair pig wrestle inside the confines of a wet paper bag.

What makes them different?

Money?  Nope.

Class?  Nope.

Education?  Noooo.

A pig?  Now you’re just being cheeky.

Because I like his expression, ok?!The answer is, well put it this way, if they were to watch a puppet show, they'd see the puppets and the puppet strings, and still love the show.

These shining human specimens, probably unicorn variety, share many of the same behaviours and attitudes. First of all, they live in accordance to the laws of nature, and effortlessly so.

They accept what is.

And like the real, unreal unicorn, these special people prioritise the life force that pulses through their veins, and guard it, quite literally, with their life.  To sacrifice this force would be akin to accepting death, one bad decision at a time.

I know, it's a bit of a downer that death creeps into this conversation about such a mighty, invisible force. It's here as a matter of perspective. Death doesn’t happen suddenly; only the end-bit does. It begins the moment we take the low road, make bad choices, and stop listening to our higher selves. Yes they speak, and yes we can hear them – not all angel-like, more like clear intuition.

Powerful life-force was once known only to Kung Fu masters and Jedi. Look - Jedi squirrels! Who knew?!Sadly, this umbilical life force is squandered when our personal culture can no longer accommodate it: when we choose ten seconds of taste sensation over the ten hours of digestive struggle, or numb ourselves from the pain of stress and worry, blame others for our woes, believe that we have woes – to name a few. Before long, it's no longer physically possible to contain this blindingly magnificent force of life; this … beauty.

It might sound impossible to live such a light-possessed life, however it’s actually very easy. How dare I say it's easy?! I don't know your pain or story. Some of you will argue at my arrogant suggestion, so I pre-emptively admonish myself on your behalf - to save you time writing angry comments.  But you've come this far, so why not hear me out.

It’s simply a matter of re-orienting our compass to always point towards our higher selves. We all have them, lonely invisible alter-creatures of our existence. Choose life regardless of excusing circumstances, and commit. Meditation and yoga strengthen our resolve to hold true.

Being gorgeous, a powerhouse of light, does not require any extra DNA strands to unlock, though that would make life easier - in the same way that having four arms would . We only need to remember why we are here, as ‘me’, in this era, in this body and character. It’s in everybody’s interest that we play our part with everything we’ve got. Give the performance of the century, as ourselves, every single day.

If there is one thing that propells us towards the unicorn-human-realm-of-brilliance status faster, it is to be in the present. It is, by far, sweeter than the past or the future.

Yoga and meditation are like my warm-up vocal exercises before the curtain rises.

Maybe I can offer some tips that could help you realise your powerhouse of brilliance that is your birth right:

1. Eat for nutrition. That's all it is

2. Don’t put anything in your body as solution to a negative emotion

3. Avoid lazy habits

4. Don’t sacrifice or over-indulge in sleep

5. Stay at arms-length from the stories that carry on around you

6. Avoid anything that alters your mind

7. Avoid everything processed or made without awareness

8. Gossiping or complaining are cement shoes that hold you down

9. Practice yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Kung, or meditation daily

1o. Exercise daily

11. Get in to nature regularly

12. Be quiet

13. Break the love affair for material possessions

14. Accept that you are a flower that blooms in the right conditions. Know what they are

15. Stay in the present

You owe it to the magic of life to be everything you are meant to be and no less. Nothing is worth it, believe me. (Because I'm not a doctor.)

Awesome perspective. Someone has to say it! Isn't it strange that one has to be so careful when you try to say something more positive than the downer universe that everyone is so comfortably living. Like you don't want to upset the masses.

I love this article. We need a whole lotta optimisim at this time. Obviously you aren't living in the USA. Its really well written and I love your points. I've never wanted to be a unicorn this badly in my whole life! Thank you Presidentess.

Thanks for this uplifting post. I concur with the commentors who have gone before me. I especially love your attention to illustration. If I was ever given a task (as a writer) to publish an article that has to be illustrated using a smiling goat, jedi squirrels, the guy from Tangled and a woman doing a fantastic yoga pose, I would not be able to write anything except 'Look at these unusual pictures I am posting in one place and have nothing to say besides this'. So, well done. I always love your words, and they are made more special because of the great illustrations. Thanks!

You make a point to acknowlege that you don't know our pain or our story. At the same time you acknowlege that it is a story. That's all it is. People would often rather die by their story than to liberate themselves from it and stand there, naked and free. What if we let go of our stories? Who are we then? I think I sound like one of your recent articles. You're seeping into my brain like an anti-zombie. Not too many people do that.

Hi there De Antonio. Yes, being a unicorn is a very attractive thing I can see. No I don't live in the USA, you are correct. But I'm happy to have many friends there. Keep moving to the light!

Hi there Correspondent. Thank you for your comments on my illustrations. That's the vacation-bit of writing an article. I'm sure you could come up with something very unusual and humorous if you really faced such a task. Try it!

Luv. You got it right! Now, how to tell this to 7 billion people. And would they listen? But that's not the point, I know. I hope your audience goes far and wide. We need more people like you in this world. Be brave and carry on!

Man, you had me at Jedi Squirrels.

You could have whittled the list down to no. 1, 2 and 15 and I'd be 99% there up in the heady eschelons of unicorn humanness. I hope I spelled all that right.

I love the cement shoes of gossip and complaint. That really struck me. I imagine most of the world walking around in cement shoes. And the few who don't gossip or complain have these invisible wings and fly around when nobody's watching.

I love your posts Presidentess. I wish you posted more of these kinds of articles to balance out the trash that is everywhere on the net. Why haven't you got a donation button? Maybe that can help you write more frequently..

Hi Forever. Thanks for reading and enjoying. It makes my day. Your idea is a sound one. I shall look into it. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for an inspiring post.

Hi Domo. I love that quote! Where would we be if we had to live in our past or in a future imagined during our weaker moments?! The present is a ticket to sanity, don't you agree?!
